I really wish I was live blogging last night during the grammys because I had so many snarky comments running through my head such as "Is a Jonass Brother really playing conga drums?" and no outlet for them. But live blogging seemed a little aggressive for such a half assed blog.
The Grammys were characteristically long and lame. There were a few cool moments in there, though. Serial marrier Paul McCartney's performance was great and he got to play the role that usually falls into Jack Nicholson's lap at movie award shows: the cool guy in the audience who everyone refers to and jokes around with when they are presenting or giving acceptance speeches. Coldplay even apologized to him for ripping off Sgt. Pepper with the costumes they were wearing.
Radiohead didn't win enough awards in my opinion but they did do a cool performance of "15 Steps" with the USC Marching Band.
There was no double exposure moment like last year but M.I.A. did perform pregnant as hell. She wasn't hiding it either. The night of the Grammys was her due date. Wow.

RADIOHEAD ON THE ROAD TO GRAMMY DOMINATION
Thursday, December 4, 2008I'm not a big fan of the Grammys but this year I have someone to root for. Radiohead's In Rainbows snagged 7 nominations. Pretty cool!
They are up against the fabulous Robert Plant/Alison Krauss albumRaising Sand in the Album of the Year Category. It's not often that I'm a fan of two albums in that category. Even Pitchfork called this year's Grammy nominations "surprisingly relevant".
Here is the list of Radiohead related nominations:
* Album of the Year
* Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for the song "House of Cards"
* Best Rock Song for "House of Cards"
* Best Alternative Music Album (they're up against Evil Urges. Ha! As if!)
* Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package
* Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical (Nigel Godrich)
* Best Short Form Music Video - "House of Cards" directed by James Frost
And, Jonny Greenwood is up for:
* Best Score Soundtrack Album For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media for There Will be Blood
The Grammys aren't until February 8th but you can check this out while you wait. It's the nominated video for "House of Cards":

WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED AT THE GRAMMYS??
Tuesday, February 12, 2008
Put Beyonce's "dress" together with Tina's rad silver lamé pants and you have exactly one outfit. Separately, between Tina's boobs and Beyonce's butt, it's way too much exposure. I mean, if I had to look at someone's butt like that, Beyonce's would probably be up on my list but this is the Grammys! It is a classy event! Wait, it's not? OK never mind.
