MIX PICS

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Hey Y'all! We posted some pictures from our recording/mix sessions on our website including this amazing pic of Wyatt with two pairs of headphones on. Check them all out here.

IN BEL AIR NEWS:

Friday, May 1, 2009

As many of you may know, we have been on a short performing hiatus. We are sad to say that we have had to say goodbye to our beloved drummer, and friend, Andrew Kilpatrick. After much debate, Drew decided to move back to Alabama to take advantage of his house until this economic downturn blows over. We wish him the best of luck down there and look forward to collaborating together in the future.

oh and...WE HAVE A NEW RELEASE COMING SOON!!!

A week before Drew left, we went into the studio to lay down some new tracks we had been working on together. After an (admittedly) paced mixing and mastering, the albums are currently at the press. We should have copies available for purchase mid may. This is going to be a vinyl only single. When purchased, the 7" will come with a download code so you get the best of both worlds. You will be able to download the digital files in the format and fidelity of your choosing (from 128Mbps MP3 up to uncompressed PCM WAV)

The A side of the single is for one of Jeff's new songs "Into the Sea"
The B side will only be available on this release, and is a full band remake of Allie's "You Can't Do Much".

We're very exited!

In other news: We have started rehearsing with a new drummer, so look for shows to start up again soon. Myself, Allie, and Jeff have all stayed busy writing in the downtime, and Bel Air plans to get back into the studio to finish recording our new full length as soon as we get back up to speed.

Updates soon.
XOXO

SHORT ORDER STRINGS

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

I think this is brilliant. Short Order Strings is an LA based company that provides live string parts for your songs. It's entirely an online operation. You upload your song, fill out a form saying where you want the strings and what strings you want and they record it for you. It's cheap, too.

RECORDING/MIXING

Monday, December 15, 2008

Here's an update on our upcoming 7" recording. It's on the up and up. Really.

We recorded 3 songs at the very cool Cowboy Technical Services with Tim Hatfield at the helm. We walked out with some rough mixes that were almost usable right off the bat. Amazing. Not us, them. We have since re-done some vocals, added some guitar, re-amped some bass and now we're ready to mix. Alex Newport is on board to mix and we're really excited that he's boarded this crazy ship called Bel Air. I'm excited to act as cruise director of this crazy ship called Bel Air. I'm going to start calling Jeff Isaac because he is clearly the bartender on this crazy ship called Bel Air. Anyhoozers, you can check out Alex's sweet list of credits on his fancy wikipedia page. Not listed there is one of his latest - the new O'Death record - Broken Hymns, Limbs and Skin. Go check it out - then come back and have a pina colada with me on the Lido Deck.

Our good friend Shea dropped by a couple weeks ago to play some violin on a couple of our songs!

GUEST STAR

On Wednesday Jeff, Wyatt and I drove down to Philly to record Mike "Slo-Mo" Brenner playing some steel guitar on a few of our songs. For the uninitiated, Mike is a phenomenal steel player and has played with Songs:Ohia, Magnolia Electric Co. and Marah, among others. Not only is he a brilliant musician and tasteful as hell, he is also a super cool, nice guy and a musical mind reader!!! I swear. He was (at least) one step ahead of us with every idea we had. I can't say enough good things about the experience. Wyatt was incredible. He set up an Instastudio in the room we were recording in in like 15 minutes tops. Check out the pics. Also, check out Mike's band, Slo-Mo right here! It is proof that lap steel and hip hop can live in peace and harmony.
